Saltram of Barossa – Pepperjack ($7.50 glass)

Shiraz

8/10

Curry = Pepperjack

Some may say:

‘C’mon Spud why bother reviewing a wine that you see everywhere, this is way to mainstream for someone with your wine expertise.’

This may be true but here we have an old faithful that should be shown some respect.

Up bright eyed and bushy tailed me and the Mrs. decided that it looked like the perfect day for a visit to the Camberwell Sunday Market.  After a couple of hours rummaging through brick-a-brack you tend to get pretty peckish, so it was off to my old haunt Canterbury’s Maling Road for a cuppa and cake. And what better place is there for cuppa and cake?  After hobnobbing with the locals for a while we decided to head back to Camberwell to catch a movie at Rivoli which allowed us to waste some time before dinner.

For those of you still awake now for the actual review.  If you haven’t been there then put simply, you should get there asap.  If you like Indian tucker Tandoori Den in Camberwell is the best.  The Red of the month was the Pepperjack Shiraz.  I allowed the wine to breath while we had our fantastic entree.  Then it was time for the mains.  Personally I don’t think there is a better wine to go with red meat curry.  The match is perfect with the deep flavour and spicy undertones it is the perfect accompaniment.  Brilliant.
