Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009I find music through a process of osmosis, a gradual or unconscious development of musical tastes and ideas. Music finds me rather than the other way around. I don’t listen to FM Radio, I don’t watch Video Hits or MTV. I always keep an ear out and often find it in the strangest places. Therefore the following list is one of music I’ve discovered in 2009, most of the albums were not released this year. I can be a bit slow on the uptake but I’m looking for to picking up my copy of Fredhead by Right Said Fred for Christmas.

Saturday, December 19th, 2009A rapidly expanding genre of television is cosmetic or surgical makeover television (catchy title yes?). Programs such as How to Look Good Naked, Extreme Makeover, What Not to Wear, 10 Years Younger and Morning’s with Kerri-Anne are all classic examples of television designed to make ugly or normal people feel better about themselves. It gives participants the opportunity to be publicly berated and humiliated by stylists and fashionistas, most of whom are fully qualified experts and have the TAFE and night school diplomas to prove it.
